Improving your bowling scores
October 12, 2009 – 8:24 pmI have had this post sitting around for a while and just never posted it. Here are 4 tips that could help every new bowler For those who don't know I am a pretty avid bowler. I used to suck pretty bad, but I can hold my own now. I hold an average that is right around 185, but when I was in more competitive leagues I have held 200+ averages. I mainly bowl for fun now, even the leagues I have been in recently have had a significantly more fun-based focus. Still I sympathize with folks who are newer to bowling and with that I have these tips for any newer bowler looking to add a few more points to their score. 1. Shoes - Buy your own pair! There are really decent shoes available at the sub $30 starter level. Plus if you bowl with any frequency your investment ...
Boxee on Apple TV
September 27, 2009 – 5:15 pmBoxee on the Apple TV: Initial Impressions The following is an account of my experience with the Apple TV. I had been eying this device for a while and recently had an opportunity to get one that I couldn't turn down. My interest in the Apple TV was to use it as a media center for my collection of movies and TV shows. Up until I got the Apple TV my primary media center was a Western Digital Media Player (which I'll refer to as the WD-MP). The WD-MP device has served it's purpose perfectly but has a few major flaws that consistently had me looking at other devices. What is Boxee you ask? So it appears I may have gotten a bit ahead of myself. Boxee is a Media Center software platform that is built with a social networking aspect. Boxee plays media from your computer and other devices in your ...

Auto-Tune The Nation
May 6, 2009 – 7:13 amThe world has gone Auto-Tune crazy...and I am actually ok with it. Sure it may be over used, but what isn't these days. I know some of you are asking WTF is Auto-Tune? Well it was software created by the company Antares to serve as a pitch correction software. In fact chances are if you have listened to just about anything recorded with vocals in the last 5 or so years you have have heard Auto Tune and didn't even know it. Well some genius found out that messing with the settings in unintended ways actually creates a crazy robotic sound ala Cher in "Believe" or T-Pain in anything he has done in 2 years or Lil Wayne in anything since the "Carter 3" album. It has gotten so crazy lately that people are using Auto-Tune in all sorts of settings. To celebrate this I here is a list of some ...
2008: A Recap
January 1, 2009 – 2:38 pmWell the year 2008 has come and gone. Thinking back to all that happened in 2008 I figured a recap of the year wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Family: I love my family. In 2008 Marcia and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. It is crazy to think that 11 years after meeting two people would love trust and respect each other as much as we do. She continues to make my heart smile. Also our son Gabe turned 3. I never imagined being a father would be as cool as it is, but he has made it a very rewarding experience. The MOB Crew: When my sister’s family moved a mile away that gave me a lot of extra time to spend with my brother-in-law Chrisshon. It also made me realize that we could share our love for music. What started out with the two of us sitting ...
Recording Studio with a Vocal Isolation Booth
December 10, 2008 – 7:43 amOK so I have been a super slacker when it comes to updating the blog lately. I did however launch a new blog for my Hip Hop crew: The MOB Crew. So as you may already assume I have spent a bunch of time with these fellas recording and such. One of the projects we undertook was building a Vocal Isolation Booth. For those of you who are not exactly sure what a booth does or is used for, let me explain. When recording (especially with a higher quality microphone) you're going to pick up all of the sound that fills the room. Well when you pack 2 to 4 dudes in a room who are all drinking and feeding off each others energy that adds a lot of extra sound. To combat this it is desirable to isolate the performer and microphone from all other sounds. While not a ...
Busy weekends!
August 18, 2008 – 6:33 amFor one of the first times all year we had a weekend with zero plans. This is really odd for our family, so we take advantage of these weekends as much as possible. These usually end up being great opportunities to recharge the batteries. Well I decided that I would use this time to resurface my blacktop driveway. For those that have never done anything like this here is what all is required: 1. Clean the surface - This is usually a combination of removing all weeds that may be peaking up from the cracks, removing any debris (leaves, sticks, etc.), and removing any grease or oil that may be on the surface. This step actually took the longest, about 3 hours total. 2. Fill the cracks - There are two types of filler I use; a patch kit (looks like little pebbles covered in tar) and blacktop ...
